  1. All my back packing gear was acquired in the late 1990’s, you picked up that nemo tent in your hand and blew my mind. I Might need to retire my 7lb north face lenticular tent.

  2. I highly recommend iodine tablets as well as a filter for your water… the iodine tablets purify it and make it safer to drink by killing bacteria and what not

  3. 34 liter backpack for a beginner?! You have miss understood the assignment. My day to day backpack is 30 liters…

  4. For all my fellow poor people, please make the investment into good hiking shoes. I can’t even begin to stress how important that is😭

  5. Florida camping..it was -40 last week here..the toilet tissue version of fabrics and tiny heat sources would work good..in my partially heated garage.

  6. Filter then boil. Never use a survival water filter for a casual backpacking trip and then not boil the water, but if you do always throw it away and buy a new one for the next trip.

  7. Love this pack, but it’s seriously lacking in first aid. Get yourself a good first aid kit including splints for sprained ancles and/or broken bones. The added weight is worth it. Better to have and not need…you get the point.
Edit: you did mention a small kit for blisters and such but, that is so not enough.

  8. Yeah this gear is expensive. I am using this as a guide, all kinds of price points on any of the gear. Find what works for you, that’s what I did.

  9. Did I miss the rain gear? Mid layers? Puffy? Weather in Idaho is definitely not guaranteed to be warm and dry.

  10. Thank you for the video! However, with the high prices of the products you used, I doubt I’ll be able to start hacking. I want to emphasize the words "beginner" and "first adventure." These tools seem more suited for professionals rather than beginners.

  11. Oh no ,nothing is crazy about this gear aside from nemo tags…😂every student can afford that. Have you no shame? This guy literally goes through top price tag items which is ok, especially if they gave it to you to advertise for free, but quit acting like thats remotely affordable for a "beginner" *unsub*

  12. the concept of white people having to convince other white people to use a bidet is so funny and outlandish to me as a brown person who uses one everyday 😂😭 (thanks for this informative video)

  13. Thats a nice widget

Also insane how much a rubber gasket costs (the bidet), all said and done 26$ and thats amazon (I dont use prime, but 10$ to ship a piece of rubber…?) I’m sticking to poking a hole in a cap

  14. The travel bidet is brilliant! I use a bidet at home and it is the thing I miss most when I’m out adventuring.
